Davos road closures and getting around during the Annual Meeting
In 2026 the Promenade beside the Congress Centre closed to traffic from Saturday 17 January 15:00 to Saturday 24 January 18:00, and the police took over several car parks near the centre. To make up for it, all local buses and the Rhaetian Railway trains between Davos Platz and Davos Dorf were free, white minibuses ran on three lines from 07:00 to 20:00, and shuttle trains stopped at a temporary station by the Congress Centre.
These details come from the 2026 traffic order of Kantonspolizei Graubünden and Gemeinde Davos. The 2027 order is not yet published. It usually appears in December or January, and we will update this page when it does. The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2027 runs from 18 to 22 January 2027.

For 2027, Gemeinde Davos has already published one date: the lake car park closes from 4 January 2027 07:00 until 28 January 2027 18:00 at the latest.
Night parking ban. From 1 November to 30 April, parking on all public outdoor car parks in Davos is banned between 03:00 and 07:00. This is a standing winter rule, so it applies in January 2027.
Cars that block traffic are towed at the owner's cost. If your apartment has a parking space, use it and leave the car there for the week.
Free minibuses
From Sunday 18 to Friday 23 January 2026, the Davos transport company (Verkehrsbetrieb Davos) ran white minibuses with its logo on three lines inside town, daily from 07:00 to 20:00. It aimed for a bus every 15 minutes, with no fixed timetable, from signed stops.
Blue line. Davos Dorf station to the Symond car park and back, then along Flüelastrasse to the Stilli stop.
Green line. Davos Platz station to Postplatz, via Platzstrasse and Obere Strasse to the Hotel Belvédère, then back along the Promenade via Postplatz.
Violet line. Davos Platz station via Mattastrasse towards Hertistrasse, connecting with the train shuttle at the temporary stop, then back along Talstrasse.
Before 07:00 and after 20:00, regular buses ran several times an hour along Talstrasse between the two stations. Buses to Laret, Glaris and the side valleys kept running, and every bus of the Davos transport company was free. Some stops moved or closed from 12 to 26 January.
The train shuttle between Davos Dorf and Davos Platz
From Monday 19 to Friday 23 January 2026, the Rhaetian Railway ran two shuttle trains an hour in each direction between Davos Dorf and Davos Platz. They stopped at a temporary station, Davos Kongress/Eisstadion, with direct access to the Congress Centre. Between 06:25 and 19:45, all regular trains stopped there too.
Taxis
Taxis use the same diverted roads and police checks as everyone else. In our experience, expect about CHF 50 to 75 for a ride within Davos during the week and CHF 200 to 300 to Klosters. Fares are set by each company, so ask for the price when you book. For a principal with a full diary, a driver on call saves waiting for taxis.
Walking
Davos Platz and Davos Dorf are about 3 km apart, about 40 minutes on foot. From our apartments in Davos Platz, the Congress Centre is a 5 to 20 minute walk. Closed pavements and fenced zones make routes round the Congress Centre longer, so allow extra time. Pavements can be icy in January, and shoes with good grip help.
Helicopters
Helicopters land at the Davos Stilli heliport (LSMV), about 10 minutes by road from Davos Platz. A flight from Zurich takes about 35 minutes, weather permitting, so keep a car on standby.
What the 2026 documents say:
Restricted airspace. From 16 January 10:00 to 24 January 17:00, the federal government restricted the airspace within up to 35 nautical miles of Davos. Civil aircraft could fly through only if registered and identified in advance, with approval from the Swiss Air Force.
Heliport rules for state flights. The Federal Office of Civil Aviation's rules for flights with diplomatic clearance kept Davos Stilli open from 08:00 to 22:00, did not approve direct flights from abroad to the heliport, and always required prior approval from its helicopter section plus Air Force accreditation.
Other flights. Gemeinde Davos and the federal authorities state that helicopter traffic to Davos is regulated during the meeting. Helicopter operators handle the approvals.
Arriving by car, 16 to 18 January 2027
In 2026 the closures built up over the weekend before the Monday opening on 19 January: two car parks closed on Friday 16 January, the Promenade on Saturday 17 January at 15:00, and Hertistrasse and the restricted zones on Sunday 18 January at 18:00. These are 2026 dates. The 2027 traffic order will set its own, and we will add them here when it is published.
Gemeinde Davos has already confirmed two 2027 dates: building work may use pavements and parts of roads from 11 to 16 January 2027, and security fencing goes up in the town centre from 14 to 20 January 2027.
Arrive on Saturday in daylight if you can, unload, and park for the week. Carry passports for the police check on the way in. Read Zurich Airport to Davos in January for the drive and the train.
